The people who run this web site are obviously ignorant. Shirley Q comes from a place of love and nothing more...and they aren't stereotypes if they tend to be true. Trust me, I grew up in Atlanta, GA and even my black friends find Shirley Q to be hilarious because they know it's true for some. They knew somebody or grew up with somebody who was just like Shirley Q. Besides, did the white people riot when the Wayans Bros did WHITE CHICKS in WHITE FACE?? Wanna talk about stereotypes?!?!? Give me a break.

Devon Williams

All I see in these comments are white people sounding off about something they don't understand. When you'r grandfather remembers having to use the colored bathroom, and you'r ancestry dates back to slavery then you might get it. SQL is a white man posing in drag as a black woman, so is the black community offended by that? No. The Black community is offended by the stereotypes. The jokes about welfare, having 19 children, and so forth. Ever wondered how funny growing up like that actually is?

funny shit

this is some funny stuff. if someone wants to my fun of my redneck butt in boots go for it! i love to laugh and i will at my dumb ass in boots! find something real to protest like the illegals take our frickin money! yea u guessed it im from TEXAS

James

Ban people like you. SQL is hilarious. To ban her is to ban the First Ammendment. Get a life and find a hobby.

David

please direct your efforts to banning something that would make a difference in our world instead of bullying a comedian who is doing nothing worse than 100's of other comedians out there. This issue does not impact peoples lives. Also if you succeeded in banning this type of humor it would effect our free rights as Americans. I commend you on your passion but you're a bit misdirected. Creating a character out of stereotypes and performing it is not racist. Believing that all people fit that stereotype is racist. There is no indication that this performer feels that all black women act according to his character. There are also no messages in his acts that tell the audience to believe that he is describing how all black women act. He is simply acting out his created character SQL who happens to be an uneducated black woman. It doesn't mean anything beyond that. There is no evil underlying purpose to his performance. Again I ask you... please focus your efforts somewhere you could make a real difference for people. This is a waste of your time.

Stace Davis

I am so sick of people making an issue out of anything they can. Shirley Q is a great comedian. That's all. This is The United States. People have the right to free speech. This is what makes our country great. Personally, as a white gay male I have been offended in the past by black comedians like Eddie Murphy who get on stage and make fun of whites and gays. Did I start a protest? Of course not. Come down of your cross sisters... someone could really use the wood. Personally, I'm over the "poor me because I'm black" attitude. It's so 1950's and has been run into the ground. Get a grip! If Shirley offends you, don't listen. Just please stop whining! I'm sick of hearing it!

Ban Shirley Q. Liquor? Seriously?

I really think that there are much better things for you to focus on. This is the type of crusade that people who don't really want to get their hands dirty embark on. Work with the homeless and the destitute, work with burn victims or people with HIV. Work with people that have real "perception problems" then recast this issue in the proper light.
I am somewhat sensitive to what you are trying to achieve but I do feel that this is more of a pet issue than something that you'd really wage war (figuratively, of course) against.

Matthew 7:2- For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3- And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4- Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5- Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
Being black and growing up in a largely black community and being gay and having to find my real self, I wonder about this site. "Don't talk about me!" is all I hear...Childish.

ish

If you have any doubts about whether racism is alive and well in the gay community all you have to do is read the comments here. Sad.

This white gay man says, shut him down. SQL is not funny.

John Lawson

It's satire folks.... LAUGH about something for once in your sad lives. Oh, and if you don't like it? Don't watch it. Simple. Leave it alone for those that DO appreciate this enormous talent.

Former Fan

I think Shirley Q. Liquor should be banned because he/she is an unprofessional b***h! He was scheduled to perform in Knoxville, TN on 5/14/2010, showed up at the venue, then freaked out and ran out of the club and out of town. He had already been paid a percentage up front and left with that along with leaving the club management having to issue refunds to the majority of the people that attended. Many of us now former fans of Shirley Q. Would like to tell her to F off and keep her fat ass out of Knoxville!

The Truth

first off i wanna say that what i'm about to say isn't anything new, eveyone else on these comments have reflected their opinions just as i am about to do. you people are, as shirley q wisely puts it IGNUNT! what alot of people dont realize is that the whole blackface thing has been used in theatres around the world for a long time just like in japan men would perform as geishas or in early shakespearian times men played the roles of women. i think what you people need to realize is that there are bigger fish to fry. like hate crimes, black on black crimes, rape, murder, theft alot of it you have done just like white and other races have done. also, and this has pissed me off for years, you people need to get out of other people's faces about the whole slavery thing. what alot of people dont know is there was only a 3 percent in the south that owned any slaves and not just black slaves either! besides you people sold your own kind into slavery and i dont think the state of virginia had to apologize to you all. everyone is at least a tad racist i am a tad racist so dont act like your better than me! and dont have this actor banned! besides shirley will never be banned. you are the people that needs to be banned! get a life ya ignunt asses!

Joshua M.

RIP Shirley, I miss you, but you will live on in our memories forever! Maybe one day, these crazy ass, ignunt foos who are so insecure in their own skin, and too lazy to work a real job instead of coming down on other people having a good innocent laugh...will SHUT UP, and you can perform again!!! Shirley haters: stop trying to get ahead by bitching and moaning and pulling the "wounded" card and the "race" card and claiming that the world, and this country owe you something. Go out and get it for yourself, you have freedom here. Now please stop trying to take that away from everyone else. Chris Rock talks about crackahs all the damn time, and you know what, I LAUGH because my worth as a person is not wrapped up solely in the color of my skin. If yours is...we have a much bigger problem than some simple irreverent comedy. Get a life. Oh, and thanks for posting the tracks and the videos, I laughed so hard it was therapeutic. I have most of these on my i-pod to enjoy forever, but I am glad that people can discover the joy and humor of Shirley q. liquor on this sad website. Even bad things like this can be used for good! Ignunt asses! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Eureka

Don't we still have free speech and free enterprise in this country? You don't have to agree with everyone. You don't have to support everyone in what they say and do. I think it's great that you are standing up for your beliefs, but I also think you misinterpret what Shriley Q. Liquor is really doing. I am not racist, and I think the character is hilarious. I have yet to understand why as long as black people make fun of black people, white people, asian people (etc) it isn't racist, but as soon as a white person makes humor of another race, they are racist. Double standards. I think all stereotypes are fair game for making comedy, and Shirley Q. Liquor is a successful comedic character that does just that.

Jody

People just need to get over it! It's just comedy, she makes people laugh and have a good time, start a website that is against crime, hate, rape the real issues the world needs to be concerned about. People that start these bans have nothing better to do. There are thousands that love Shirley. Keep on making us laugh, lots of love to ya honey!

Vanity Vain

I think that I could be a little more sympathetic to this websites mission if the media wasn’t full of rap songs from black artist with lyrics as popping caps in a F#$%@#S rear, and smearing Q%$#@S and beating them with beer bottles. Black movies that show black families shunning their gay family members and make it look like its ok. And black novels that contain the words f%^$%t, and d$#e. However not in ONE of Shirley’s videos or audio clips did I hear the “N” word or ANY OTHER racial slurs AT ALL!!! And then you have Madiea doing the exact same thing, but 100 times worse than Shirley. We see Madiea in and out of court and handcuffs, welfare offices, and girlfriend speaks ONLY Ebonics!!!!! But I guess that’s ok because Mr. Perry is black?
So it sounds like to me the black community is just a tad hypocritical by posting and supporting (obviously not that much lol) a website of this nature. I hear you saying that the gay community is being disrespectful toward the black community and crying foul. But at the end of the day the collective black community has not attempted to even be the slightest bit hospitable to the gay community in any way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Judgment based on media representation.)

How come you libs are always trying to silence what you don't like? If it offends you shut it down, right?? The fact is every black comedian I've ever seen has had something to say about white people..yes EVERY ONE OF THEM!(except maybe Bill Cosby). Another fact is that stereotypes are stereotypes because they are true. I live in the Houston area and of course there are professional English speaking blacks here but I swear to God every time I'm in a public place there is a fat black woman speaking slurred ebonics at the top of her lungs to another fat black woman across the room and every other word is "um" or "uh" or "ax". Don't even get me started on common courtesy (or lack of) at a grocery store. They're always standing in the middle of the isle completely oblivious to the people around them. If I had a nickel for every time I saw a black woman paying for groceries with welfare, I'd have a room full of nickels. If I had a nickel for every time I saw a white trailer trash woman pay with welfare, I'd have one nickel. Facts are facts. If black women are offended they can start by changing themselves.

I think it's hilarious that you start this website to ban Shirley Q. and all you get are comments supporting her! Take your hate and stick it up your ass! Leave Shirley alone.

Robbie

Many thanks for posting these Shirley Q. Liquor clips....I laughed my a** off!

JD

Holy Toledo! SQL is so funny! Thank you for putting this site up and sharing her work with us. You found clips I have not heard in year!

Todd Gwynn

Shirley Q. Liquor is awesome. If you don't like it, why don't you go make your own entertainment, and schools, and theaters, and police force, and water fountains.

Ms. Gay Thang

How many times have I heard black comedians (male and female) mock and make fun of homosexuals, of which I am one? Good lard people. Relax. I always get a laugh from Ms. Mo'Nique making fun of the fact that I enjoy certain sexual activities which she deems unacceptable. I don't see why a little tit-for-tat is so hard for your uptight ass to swallow!!

new orleans lady

I am so sick of that rabble rouser Jasmyne Cannick inserting her opinion all over this country. She should get a real job. 10 to 1 says she has rotten credit and had had a least one car repossessed. I know her type very well.

adam arnold

get over it. deal with it. grow up. i thought you'd have a tough skin. if you don't like it don't support it but don't start hating on someone who brings joy to people.

stop 'acting white' if it bothers you that much

Scott Hamel

I am the owner of the video showing "My Neck, My Back" video on the main page of this website and do not appreciate it being used in this manner. I am supportive of Shirley Q. Liquor and and Charles Knipp and will now be disabling embedding of my video because of this.

Shirley Q. Liquor is a satire. It is sad that some people can't see that and have to take offense to it. Be black. Be white. Be homosexual. Be heterosexual. But don't be ignunt.
